Discover why our small business websites are different..
Our small business websites are very different from most… there is nothing, average, or run-of-the-mill about our small business websites.
Unlike many of our competitors, we are not graphic designers who have ‘morphed’ into website designers. (We’re not knocking graphic designers, or suggesting you should buy a website that looks bad; we’re saying that graphic design should be a secondary function of small business websites – not the primary, or worse still, only function).
We write small business websites from a standpoint of truly understanding their primary function and reason for being.
For small business websites, that primary function and reason for being has to be generating new enquiries, leads and sales, because anything else will make your website a liability, not an asset.
First and foremost, we are web marketers; web marketers who understand the Internet as a marketplace and who understand how to generate website traffic. Perhaps most importantly we understand the importance of natural search engine listings in generating that traffic for small business websites.
But wait…
We realise that for many people, the term ‘web marketer’ smacks of mile-long, single-page websites, that contain hundreds of testimonials from so called ‘satisfied customers’ together with ‘limited time offers’ huge piles of worthless freebies and pushy, gimmicky sales techniques.
That’s not us either.
We build quality small business websites… and by that we mean websites that work; websites which focus on function before beauty.
All our small business websites:
- are designed to generate traffic, leads and sales as their primary purpose
- incorporate tried and tested, up-to-date, search engine optimisation techniques
- use only ethical search engine optimisation techniques
- keep your customers coming back
- create referrals automatically for you
- create raving fans for your business
- generate totally free traffic from major search engines like Google, Yahoo! and Bing
- harness the power of social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn
- are designed to generate traffic, inbound links and even more traffic… from the ground up
- are modern small business websites, using Web 2.0 content management systems, which interact with the digital world
- come with full website access at all levels including the domain name, DNS records, web hosting and site authoring
- can be edited by you – the website owner
- can be added to by you – the website owner
- can be used on modern smartphones – you can even edit our websites on your smartphone!
From day one, you are and always will be in total control of your small business website – after all, it is yours; not ours!
Welcome to small business websites for the 21st Century – Welcome to small business websites from Small Business Marketing!
Small Business Websites: Features and Benefits
Whether you buy a 1-page website, a 10-page website, or a 300-page website, you will get all of the following features as standard…
Automated Hourly Website Backups
Your new website will live on a web server. Our web servers are backed up every hour, on the hour, automatically, so even if you completely trash your website, we can restore everything to how it was one hour ago, five hours ago, or even up to 5 days ago. Our Linux/Apache servers are UK based, fast and reliable and they are always updated with the latest software. Your new website will be located on an IP address which is only used by our customers so there is no need to worry about being associated with spammers, porn sites or anything else that will get your website into trouble.
Free Unlimited Email Addresses
We include as many email addresses as you need with your website at no extra cost. so you can have all the email addresses your business needs. They will all be like this… anything@yourdomain.co.uk. So you can have seperate email addresses including sales@yourdomain.co.uk, info@yourdomain.co.uk, accounts@yourdomain.co.uk, service@yourdomain.co.uk, and so on. You can even give each member of staff their own email address using their name as the first part. All email addresses can be accessed individually online, or downloaded to an email programme like Microsoft Outlook. They can even be accessed on iPhones, Android phones and BlackBerrys etc.
Built to Google’s Webmaster Guidelines
We build your website with two types of visitors in mind; your potential customers and the search engines. A website that is just built for search engines will be useless to your potential customers, and a website that is only built for your potential customers will rarely get any visitors because the search engines are unlikely to list it well. So we construct your website to be friendly to both types of visitors. That means firstly, your website will get visitors sent by the search engines who are genuinely interested in what you have to offer, and secondly, once they get to your website they will find it easy to navigate and find what they are looking for.
Built to Grow with Your Business
Successful small businesses grow into bigger businesses. So small business websites need to be able to grow with them. Our websites are all designed to be expandable so they can grow with your business. New pages, new content, new functionality and new developments are all possible at any point in the future – the way every website should be.
Fully Optimised Content
A web page or website that is not optimised for search engines will not get listed well by them. That means it will not get much, if any traffic from them. Most small business websites are built this way with so called ‘on-page’ search engine optimisation as an added extra at a substantial additional cost. All our websites are built from the ground up with ‘on-page’ search engine optimisation included as standard – at no extra cost.
Social Sharing
Today’s savvy Internet users share things they find on websites with other people. They share these things with their friends, colleagues, associates and their ‘social graph’. (Someone’s ‘social graph’ is the people they connect with through social media websites like Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn). The easiest way for people to share things from your website is to include sharing buttons on your web pages (like the ones at the bottom of this page). These buttons allow your visitors to share your content and discuss it with others in just a couple of clicks. This provides publicity for your website – simple, effective and free. We include these sharing buttons as standard with every website we build.
Social Following
If your visitors like what they find on your website, they may want to follow your business on social media websites like Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube. This way, they can keep up-to-date with what your business is doing; new products, innovations special offers and so on, without having to keep coming back to your website to do it. The simplest way to encourage your website visitors to follow your business on social media sites is to have ‘follow us’ buttons on your web pages like the ones to the top right of this page. Again, in a couple of clicks they can become your follower and keep up with what your business is doing. We provide these buttons as standard with every website we build.
Blogging as Standard
Search engines generally, and Google specifically, love fresh, new website content. Google is a bit like the robot ‘Johhny Five’ from the movie ‘Short Circuit’. It has a constant thirst for ‘input’ or content. Much like Johnny Five or an inquisitive child, Google can never get enough ‘input’. Your website can feed Google’s ‘thirst’ for ‘input’ by providing fresh, new, unique content on a regular basis with a blog. A blog is simply an online journal; a place to update your visitors with all the latest news from your business. As standard and at no extra cost we include a fully functional, state-of-the-art WordPress blog with every website we build. We’ll even teach you the basics of how to use it, so you can start blogging about your business and attract even more visitors and better search engine listings for your website too.
Effective Copy Writing
Not to be confused with copyrighting (legal stuff about ownership of ideas), copy writing is the art of writing effective text or ‘copy’. We copy-write the content of your website based upon the notes, ideas and written information you give us. If necessary we will even record an interview with you, transcribe the recording and then create your website copy from the transcription. This copy writing is all included in the price of every website we build as standard.
Calls to Action
It is a well known fact among marketing professionals that in order for any sales message to be effective it needs to include a ‘Call to Action’. A call to action is something that encourages the reader (in this case your website visitor), to take some kind of action. That action could be to fill in a website form, pick up the phone and call you, or click a ‘Buy Now’ button. All our websites include ‘Calls to Action’ as standard – no extra cost.
Small Business Websites: Content Options
Text (Copy)
You give us all the details and we will either edit your website copy, or write it from scratch. This is important because it needs to be optimised for search engines and include calls to action. This is standard with all our websites and there is no extra charge for it.
Website Forms
If you need a form on a web page to collect information from your website visitors, we will build it and embed it in the page. Simple forms are included as standard with all our websites at no extra cost. If you need something really complicated, just ask us to quote for it.
Photographs/Graphics/Diagrams
Either you can supply them, or we can supply inexpensive stock images at cost. If you are in Norfolk, England, we can also arrange for a professional photographer to quote you for shooting bespoke images for your new website. Once you have your images, uploading them to your website, embedding them in pages and optimising them for search engines is all included as standard.
Videos
Either you can supply them, or if you are in Norfolk, we can also arrange for a professional videographer to quote you for bespoke website videos. Again, like photographs, we will upload your videos, embed them in your website and optimise them for search engines at no extra cost.
Maps
We will embed relevant, interactive Google maps in your website for you as standard.
Audio
We will install audio players, upload your audio tracks, embed them in your website and optimise them for search engines at no extra cost.
Small Business Websites: Pricing
Website Pages
Standard Website Pages – £200 each
All our standard web pages are just £200 each. They can contain a variety of content including text, forms, photographs, diagrams, graphics, videos, maps and audio. (see the Content Options tab above for more details). They are all search engine optimised as standard and written to include suitable calls to action to encourage your website visitors to contact you, fill in a form, buy something, etc.
WordPress Blog – free (with every new website)
With every website we build, (even single page ones), we provide a fully functional WordPress blog as part of the website – free of charge. This is because Google in particular loves to see regular, fresh, original content on websites. Writing a blog is probably the simplest way to provide that content and so, keep GoogleBot fed and happy. We use WordPress because it is state-of-the-art blogging software.
Contact Us Page – free (with every new website)
A Contact Us Page contains all of your business contact details, with the exception of your email address. Instead of using your email address, your website visitors complete a simple online form and click a button to send you an email. This fulfils two important roles; firstly it will work on any computer, even one in a public place, and second, it stops your email address from being read by automated spamming software and your inbox being inundated with spam. Your contact us page is often a good place for an interactive map too.
Privacy Policy Page – free (with a Contact Us page or any page containing a form)
If you are going to collect personal information from your website visitors, Google in particular insists that you publish a Privacy Policy on your website. That privacy Policy should set out how you will use the information collected. We use a standard Privacy Policy document provided free-of-charge by an English Law firm in return for including a link back to their website. If you prefer a bespoke Privacy Policy, we can show you where to buy one inexpensively.
Terms and Conditions Page – free (with a Shopping Cart – see Add Ons below)
If you are going to sell products and/or collect payments on your website, Google in particular insists that your website publishes its Terms and Conditions. We use a standard Terms and Conditions document provided free-of-charge by an English Law firm in return for including a link back to their website. If you prefer bespoke Terms and Conditions, we can show you where to buy them inexpensively.
Visitor’s Sitemap Page – free (with websites containing more than 20 pages)
If you have a large website it is a good idea to include a sitemap for your visitors. This is a page than contains an alphabetical list of all the pages in your website with links to each of them. It will help your visitors to find what they are looking for quickly and easily. There is no real need for this on smaller websites.
Website Add Ons
Email Newsletter Installation and Setup – £250
If you want to send out a regular newsletter, this website add on will do it for you. It will collect names and email addresses from interested visitors to your website on a double opt-in basis. Payment processing providers include PayPal, SagePay, Google Checkout and many others. Depending on which you choose, we can even link your website sales to your accounts software, so that your online sales are recorded in your accounts system automatically. Ongoing charges are £5 per month in addition to the ongoing monthly website costs (below).
